Opinion's: Ben Affleck is the new Batman
For those of you that don't know Warner Bros. & DC have conformed that Ben Affleck will play Batman in the upcoming Man of Steel sequel, currently untitled but strongly believed to be based on the Frank Miller graphic novel "The Dark Knight Returns".
I can say that my first reaction wasn't like so many other people's, I actually thought Ben Affleck would make a great 'older' Bruce Wayne and based on that I would be willing to give him the chance to prove himself as his alter ego 'Batman'. While I can understand most peoples knee jerk reaction to dislike this casting choice (putting it mildly) I am quietly confident that Ben Affleck will deliver in the role, as he has proven himself to be quiet the talented actor (especially recently) and director. Now to the elephant in the room, yes Ben Affleck was in one of the crappiest comic book movies ever made "Daredevil", and while their is no denying that, it's unfair to hold the whole film against him. At the time of filming Daredevil was a much younger man and may not of been willing to speak out against a director or bad script.
I think we should give the man a chance, as there was no way Christian Bale was going to play the part, obviously that would of been everyone's first choice but alas it can not be. This will be one of the shortest reboot of a character in film history and could undermine the fledgling DC cinematic universe, currently built from "Man of Steel". I for one will be interested to see how the gamble pays off.
P.S. We should wait until we see some set pictures of Ben Affleck in the costume before we judge him.

Trailer Review: Man of Steel Official Trailer #2 (2013) - Zack Snyder
"My Father believed that if the world found out who I really was, they'd reject me. He was convinced the world wasn't ready. What do you think?"As you might of picked up on, I am a huge comic book movie fan, its my favourite movie genre and has given its far share of great movies and great disappointments. This movie looks like it will fall into the first category, it seems to be a more serious take on the Superman story very much like Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy (whom is producing it), that is taking a fantastical story and basing it at least partiality in the real world and making the characters very dark and introspective. Another thing this movie has going for it in my opinion is its director Zack Snyder, who is one of my favourite directors and while I didn't think his personal style would fit with a Superman film he seems to have been reigned in by Christopher Nolan and this trailer just looks amazing.
When the teaser trailer's came out (the same trailer had two different voice-overs) I wasn't overly impressed with it, but it did its job of getting people talking about the film. Now this the second trailer does an amazing job and doesn't give too much away it's very careful about what it shows and doesn't spoil the trailer like many films lately have a habit of doing, this isn't a two minute version of the entire film. What it does though is it introduces the main character of Clark Kent/Superman played by Henry Cavill and in a twist from the comic's and previous adoptions of the film has Clark's father not be as supportive of him using his super powers to help people as he's worried what other people will think of him and how they'll react to him, which is very powerful and a more realistic idea for the character. It also shows Clark Kent's eventual realisation that he'll need to become Superman in order to help the people he loves even if it means betraying them at least that's how I interoperate it.

Opinions: Arrow (TV Series)
For those of you who don’t know there’s a new television
show called Arrow on Sky One (and The CW in America), based on the DC comic
books character Green Arrow and here’s the secret part guy’s, it’s amazing. I
feel DC and very smart at doing this small screen stuff as it really helps to
build up the profile of lesser known characters and allow you time to get to
know them and invest in them, it also allows you to introduce other characters
and build a shared universe like what Marvel have done with their film
franchises. It’s being made by a lot of the same people who made Smallville
another DC television series that was amazing.
This series feel like its taken a leaf from Christopher
Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy and even Marvels approach of grounding everything
in reality, which in my opinion helps you identify with the characters better.
So who is this Green Arrow character I might hear you asking, well he’s one of
DC’s better known main characters and I have to be completely honest I only
ever knew of the character from references in and never knew his origin story,
which is why I love this series so much it starts at the beginning and shows us
how Oliver Queen the man becomes The Green Arrow.
Now I can’t spoil too much I’m only 4 episodes in but the
basic story is Oliver and his dad are on a boat trip and they crash, his father
tells Oliver to right the family wrongs and shots himself in the head, this
leaves Oliver trapped on an island for 5 years where he trains to become The
Green Arrow. Once rescued his character is a billionaire playboy by day (cough,
Tony Stark and Bruce Wayne, cough) but by night he is vigilante crime fighter
The Green Arrow. Hopefully I’ve piqued your interest and you’ll want to go
check out this series if not, well then fine, your loss.
